Due to the dynamic and changing environment, leaders and managers have recognized the importance of linking talent management to the overall business strategy. This link has driven talent management to adapt and change to provide resources that match the overall strategy of the organization (Scappatura, 2009). As talent management has become an important part of an organizational strategy, therefore, the emphasis on the elements of a successful plan have also become important.
Mostly, the successful TMS are hinged on core components: assessment tools, multirater assessment, diagnostic tools, and monitoring processes (Berger & Berger, 2011). For example, a high-profile organization, Google realized the importance of talent management and incorporated a diagnostic element into their TMS. After losing key talent, in high profile positions, all within a short period, Google decided to incorporate an analytics element that provides insight as to whether employees are likely to leave (Scappatura, 2009). This is just one example of how the TMS is being used to combat and adapt to dynamic forces.
